As I stated before
'The browser Title displays the menu item 'Title Alias' unless the Browser title field is populated'
Although there is an exception to that with some 3rd party templates not following the settings.

Hmm ... I don't know which Joomla-Version you are using.
As mentioned before: In Joomla-3 it used to be like you wrote (and as I mentioned above). However, since Joomla-5 this is unfortunately no longer the case. =>In Joomla-5 the browser-title displays the article-title unless you do populate that field to something more suitable.
Please try it yourself to see what is going on. Download lastest Joomla-Version and use un-altered Cassiopeia-template. Then check what your browser-tab says when you hover-over it (the tab-window) and check what your source-code says in the <head> in <title>.

And yes, I have a lot corporate clients with Joomla websites, where metadata matters.
It's crucial to clarify that starting with Joomla 5, the browser title defaults to the article title unless manually adjusted. This is a significant change from Joomla 3, impacting SEO and user experience. Ensuring accurate metadata is vital for corporate clients, so it's essential to review and update site configurations accordingly.
